You want to start reading those books because you know one of those books might have some answers or a few good ideas that will get you headed down the right path.

But how do you sort through all of those recommendations, find the best books for you, use your reading time most effectively, and then implement what you’ve learned to better your creative life?

I can help you choose your books judiciously, find the time for focused reading, use those books more effectively, then take the action that will create your next chapter.

Sure you can just keep turning the page and put off making some life changes but what will is cost you?  Why are you waiting? How much more time are you going to lose?

Hi, I’m Heidi

I started The Literary Salon because I believe books have the power to help us unlock our better selves and live more creative lives. We just need to learn how to use our books more mindfully. I’m here to help midlife women and men find that next chapter.

By combining the power of coaching with the power in the limitless supply, easy availability and endless array of styles & topics in books — I’ve crafted a program that combines masterclasses, masterminds and individual coaching to help you build a better life, create a new chapter or improve your current story.

I’ve been where you are. I spent a dozen years running my own print broker business, then worked in higher education, investment banking and the non-profit sector. I had more than a few ‘good’ jobs but when it came down to it — I wasn’t happy.

It took losing my Dad, my dog and a major problem with my eye sight that got me unhinged — and made me take steps toward a new life chapter.

Don’t spend another Monday morning uninterested in your life and sadly wondering what’s ahead — start to explore today and take the steps toward your next chapter.

The Salon: A Brief History

People have gathered for eons to discuss art, science and literature.

The Salon, as organized in Western culture, is a gatherings of people, typically held at a private residence with a hostess, whose purpose is to entertain and educate the participants via conversation.

Salons were often hosted in affluent homes where the day’s reigning intelligentsia met for a glass of wine and a delicious nibble while guests discussed the latest knowledge, ideas and — I imagine — gossip. Often, scientists and authors would present their latest writings for review.

When most of us image a Salon, we visualize the gatherings that flourished in 17th and 18th century France — those luscious evenings by candlelight with Voltaire, Madame Necker, Descartes and the inimitable Benjamin Franklin — and those that were hosted decades later by Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas.

But, Salons are alive and well today.  One might even argue they’re more popular if one considers  today’s on-line groups, book clubs and masterminds which follow many of the tenants of the traditional salon.

So as we embark on a luscious journey to explore old and new books in bundles that will help us design exciting new chapters for our lives, it seemed appropriate to create The Literary Salon.
